About Actel

ACTEL is a school that has been created by the League of Mothers of Tripoli (LMT), which is a charitable educational association. Owing particularly to the president of the of the league, Dr Nada M.Ayoubi, with the support of the European Union, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and with the collaboration of the Institut Europeen de Cooperation et de Developpement (IECD), situated in Paris. With the support of these institutions, ACTEL develops a high-quality technical teaching, by opening up its students to the outside world and particularly to the professional environment. In addition, it provides an academic education which is based on mental preparation and critical thinking habituation. ACTEL is situated in Btouratij el Koura, North Lebanon, about 7 Km far from Tripoli – 90 Km far from Beirut. The environment of the school is made up of olive tree meadows. . The school is situated at the crossroads of different regions and religions, the population of the area being of good cultural standard. At last, the region enjoys a moderate and soft climate all the year long.

University partnerships

A close cooperation with some universities of universal fame in Lebanon and Europe is one aspect of ACTEL which offers our students the opportunity to obtain the university degree for the shortest time and the lowest cost.

Message from the president

Welcome to all students from Lebanon and abroad. I hope you will find in ACTEL a suitable space which consents to your aspirations, a space of academic freedom and openness that will help you to progress in a very competing and developing world.

Our aim in ACTEL is to build an individual of critical thinking, open to human concepts and equipped with knowledge and skills, that will enable you to meet the future needs with full confidence and to be proud of being graduates of ACTEL

Links with European organizations

ACTEL has strong links with a number of European companies of universal fame, which offer the students the opportunity to take part in a training period and to be in contact with qualified managers and businessmen. In the meantime those managers take part as visitors – lecturers at ACTEL and thus share their experience with ACTEL’s students who gain a concrete vision of the work environment. www.iecd.org

ACTEL’s Council

ACTEL's council gathers two times a year. Administrators are appointed for a three-year renewable mandate. It is chaired by the President of the League of Mothers of Tripoli.

The council hears the annual report of the school that is presented by the director. It examines and approves the accounts of the past exercise. It examines also the forecast budget that is presented by the director.

The council is to make recommendations about the management of the school on a financial and academic point of view.

ACTEL's council includes:

• The Director of ACTEL
•  One european representative
• resentatives of each of the cooperating institutions
• Two Lebaneases qualified bisinessmen

ACTEL’s Direction borad A direction board formed of help the director in the following responsabilites:

• studying the program of lessons in accordance with the official program
• studying school books and complementary references
• drawing up programs of school activities, cultures and conferences
• studying the needs of the Label Market wich call for new specialisations
• following up the performence of plans and programs approved
  
  

Major Dates

1999 Official inauguration in presence of the Minister of high education , M Yousef Baydoun presenting HM president Emile Lahoud, the mayor of North Lebanon representing the Prime minister, the IECD director, and representatives of the French Embassy and the European commission in Lebanon.

 

 

2001 Recognition of the Euro-Lebanese college for technical education, by the presidental decree N°4753 dated 26/01/2001 .

2001 Recognition of the Euro-Lebanese school for academic educationby by the presidential decree N°4943 dated 23/02/2001 .

 

2003 First graduation ceremony.

2004 Conference on the role of Technical schools in meeting the requirements of the Labour market, in presence of the Minister of high education, Abdulrahim mrad.

 

 

 

2005 Conference on the site of youth in development policies in Arab countries, under the patronage of the first lady Mme Endre Lahoud , Participants : First secretaries of Egypt, Tunis, Arab emirates, Algeria, Yemen embassies and a representative of Ministry of culture of Syria.
